Nokia has announced a new Xseries phone in India by unveiling the X2. This candybar phone is equipped with a 2.2-inch QVGA display, a 5MP camera with video recording, a microSD card slot (up to 16GB), dedicated music keys, an FM radio, Nokia Messaging, Facebook integration, dual speakers, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headset jack and runs on Symbian S40 OS. The Nokia X2 will go on sale in India starting in June for 85 Euro (about $112). More

Chinese Phones Banned In India

India’s Department of Telecommunications has issued a blanket ban on imports of telecoms equipment from China. This is bad news for Chinese cell phone manufacturers such as ZTE, Huawei, and Meizu. The reason for the ban isn’t competition issues, or nationalism, but national security. India is concerned that telecoms equipment from China could contain spyware and malware that allow Chinese spies access to Indian telecoms networks. [Pocket-lint]

After releasing the Optimus G540, LG has decided to launch another new touchscreen phone in the UK. Dubbed as the LG GS290 Cookie Fresh, the phone should be available soon in the UK via Vodafone, Virgin, Phones4u and Tesco. FYI, the LG Cookie Fresh features the company’s Cartoon-styled UI and a simple SNS (Social Networking Services) connector, which allows direct access to Facebook and other services. The handset also comes with a WQVGA touchscreen display, widgets, LiveSquare, Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.5mm headset jack, an MP3 player, an FM tuner/recorder, a 2MP camera, and a MicroSD card slot. LG SU950 Hits The South Korean Market

LG has decided to release the LG-SU950 in South Korea. This handset is slated to be released around May or June 2010. Specifications of the LG-SU950 include a 3.5-inch AMOLED WVGA display, DivX playback, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Android OS. Vodafone 845 Android Smartphone

Vodafone is about to launch their first Android smartphone ‘Vodafone 845’ into the market. This Huawei-made handset will sport a 2.8-inch 320 x 240 touchscreen display, a 3MP camera, 3G, WiFi, Vodafone 360 services and run on Android 2.1 OS. The Vodafone 845 will become available next month in 12 Vodafone markets, including the UK for 150 Euro (about $198) without contract. Check out the video preview after the break. More

Garmin ASUS Nuvifone A10 Navigation Phone Is Now Official

Garmin ASUS has officially announced the Nuvifone A10, which is targeted at pedestrian navigation users. This Android-powered smartphone comes equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 5-megapixel camera with Geotagging support, a 1,500mAh battery, and Microsoft Exchange support. The Nuvifone A10 will be released in Europe and Asia Pacific mid this year. No word on pricing so far. [Garmin]
