Psion Teklogix launched the iKon PDA / smartphone that has a 3.7-inch VGA display, an integrated camera, built-in GPS, GSM / GPRS / UMTS connectivity options, Bluetooth, WiFi, a barcode scanner and your choice of Windows Mobile 6 Classic / Professional or CE.net 5. The smartphone will be released in December.
i-Mate will release its Ultimates line of Windows Mobile 6 smartphones in North America next month. The 9502 is 3G quad-band GSM mobile phone that features 3MP auto-focus camera with LED flash, front facing VGA camera for video calls, GPS, 2.86-inch backlit LCD, microSD support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 400MHz Quallcomm MSM 7200 processor, and a QWERTY keyboard.
The 8502 comes equipped with only a 2MP shooter, GPS, 2.6-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. What make this smartphone cool is that it offers XGA output for projectors and TVs. The i-Mate 8510 also offers XGA out, quad-band GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2MP shooter with flash, VGA front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 2.6-inch touchscreen. The 6150 provides the same XGA out, quad-band GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2MP digicam with autofocus, VGA front-facing camera, and a 2.8-inch touchscreen. The i-Mate 8510 and 6150 lack of QWERTY keypad.
Compulab has fired up a do-in-yourself trend in the smartphone world with this mini-computer. At about $122, this little wonder has an intel x-scale CPU at 520Mhz, with your choice of Linux or Windows CE, cellular radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, camera, or VGA touchscreen.
The i-mate JAMA 201 smartphone comes loaded with a Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system and a 300MHz Samsung processor. The handset also features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, Bluetooth, a 2MP autofocus camera with flash, a microSD slot and a QWERTY keyboard. However, the handset lacks of Wi-Fi or UMTS, and only sports tri-band GSM/EDGE. Its battery offers up to four hours of talk time with more than six days of standby time.
HTC has showed off its new HT1100 3G smartphone during CEATEC 2007. The mobile phone measures 16.5mm thickness and sports World Wing, the NTT Docomo international roaming service. No word on pricing and availability so far.
