Disney Mobile’s First Smartphone

Disney Mobile has recently announced their first smartphone, which will be released in February this year. It is actually a redesigned Sharp 003SH that comes jam packed with a 3.8-inch parallax 3D display, a 9.6MPx camera and the Google Android 2.2 OS. The handset also features Disney’s original home screen, apps, widgets, and emoticons. No word yet on pricing. [Akihabara]

Sharp’s Glassesless 3D Phone

Sharp is ready to release cell phones with autostereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D display in the US, China and India in 2011. Sharp will release two Android 3D phones for Japan’s Softbank network namely the Galapagos 003SH and Galapagos 005SH. The company will also release the LYNX SH-03C for NTT DoCoMo. All of these phones feature a 3.8-inch multitouch 3D glass-free display, which is also known as Sharp’s own Parallax-Barrier display. Stay tuned for more updates. [Ubergizmo]

Sharp AQUOS Shot 002SH High-end Camera Phone

The Sharp AQUOS Shot 002SH camera phone from Softbank comes equipped with a 14.1MP digital camera, which is capable of recording 720p HD video. This waterproof phone (IPX5/IPX7) adopts the Sharp ProPix technology that allows the camera to take a picture in less than 0.5 seconds. The Sharp AQUOS Shot 002SH also features Auto Focus, face recognition and pet mode. What’s more, the handset also provides an HDMI out port, a 3.4-inch touchscreen display with a VGA resolution, a 123MB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a microSDHC cards slot for storage expansion. KDDI has unveiled three new Android-powered smartphones in the form of the Toshiba REGZA Phone IS04, the Sharp IS05 and the Pantech SIRIUSα IS06. The Toshiba REGZA Phone IS04 is known as Toshiba’s first Android smartphone for the Japanese market. The handset features a 4-inch display screen with a 854×480 resolution, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 1Seg TV Tuner, a microSDHC slot, a 12.19MP camera, WI-Fi, Bluetooth and KDDI’s new WIN HIGH SPEED data connection with up to 9.2Mbps downstream and up to 5.5Mbps upstream.

The Sharp IS05 comes with an 8MP AutoFocus camera with the ability to record 720p video, a 3.4-inch display screen with a 854×480 resolution, a microsSDHC card slot, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 1Seg TV Tuner, WiFi and Bluetooth. And finally, the Pantech SIRIUSα IS06 boasts a 3.4-inch display screen (800×480), a 1Seg TV Tuner, a microSDHC card slot and a 5MP AutoFocus camera. All of these handsets are scheduled to hit Japan around December 2010 or January 2011. More

Sharp and KDDI have collaborated to launch the IS03 Android smartphone in late-November 2010. Measuring 6.3cm × 12.1cm × 1.26cm and weighing at 138 grams, the IS03 features Sharp’s own 9.6 megapixel CCD camera with autofocus and ProPix image processor, a 960×640-resolution 3.5-inch touchscreen, an Android OS 2.1 (upgradeable to 2.2 on a yet-unannounced date) with Flash Lite 4.0, Android Market and KDDI’s “one Market”. What’s more, the IS03 also has an infrared for quick data communication between two phones, a one-seg TV for watching TV on-the-go, and the Osaifu-keitai contact-less IC payment chip. The battery is rated for 230 minutes of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. No word on pricing at this time. [Akihabara]
