Microsoft will officially announce the latest version of its mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5, during the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. According to the news, the first smartphones and PDAs powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 should make it to the shelves in the third quarter of the year. In related news, we learn that Microsoft will continue licensing its operating system to mobile phone manufacturers, just the way it has done it until now, and will not come to the market with a device of its own.
