I'm in Europe and got this phone today (for equivalently 54.58 US$) as I figure it should work in the US, where Im going surfing on Friday. However, it struck me they may have made different frequency versions, as mine actually seems to be called Nokia 1661-2. Will this EU version of the phone work in the U.S? Does anyone have a clue on this? It could as well be that the ones sold in the U.S. are factory tuned to the U.S frequencies GSM 850/1900 instead of the original European GSM 900/1800.

Ps. To all Americans out there, dont forget that the mobile phone concept is a European invention. *smile*
