Samsung Introduces 'Blue Earth' Handset

Samsung offers the world’s first solar powered full-touch handset in the form of the Blue Earth. The phone comes with a solar panel located on the back of the phone, that generates enough power to make calls anytime, anywhere. The phone comes with an ‘Eco-Mode’ for setting screen brightness and backlight duration, and a Bluetooth energy efficient mode. Its “Eco-Walk” function offers a pedometer for calculating CO2 emissions reduced by walking as opposed to motor transport. The ‘Eco-Walk’ will also tell you how many trees you saved! [Akihabara]
