
Acer has officially announced the Acer Liquid, which is claimed as the world’s first Android 1.6 high definition smartphone that uses Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The handset is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU with a high-definition WVGA capacitive touchscreen, a new user interface with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks, and an optimized camera with geo-tagging and auto focus. Acer has recently launched two of its latest smartphones in the form of the DX650 (left) and DX900 (right) in Hong Kong. Both smartphones are equipped with a Samsung S3C 6410 533MHz processor, an integrated SiRFstar III GPS chipset, 128MB RAM, 256MB flash memory, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS with Spb Mobile Shell v2.1 3D UI and supports WiFi 802.11b/g as well as Bluetooth connectivity. So here are the main differences between the two handsets: the DX650 is a dual sided handset with a dedicated number pad, a 1.27-inch OLED display on the back and a 2.8-inch touchscreen display on the front. Meanwhile, the DX900 is a dual-SIM phone that only offers a single 2.8-inch touchscreen display with 640 x 480 high resolution. According to the Philipine BusinessMirror, Acer is planning on launching its new A1 Android phone in September. This smartphone will run on Google Inc.’s Android operating system and feature a touchscreen display.
