
According to the Philipine BusinessMirror, Acer is planning on launching its new A1 Android phone in September. This smartphone will run on Google Inc.’s Android operating system and feature a touchscreen display. The A1 is among four handset models that Acer plans to debut that month, however, pricing and specs still remain a mystery. [Mobilewhack]

It seems that Acer is serious in smartphone market. The company has introduced the DX650 and X960 smartphones. The first one is a dual-sided handset with a dedicated number pad, tiny OLED display on the back, a 2.8 inch touchscreen display and is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. The second handset is the X960 that comes with a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with dual cameras (VGA and 3.2MP), and a 533MHz ARM processor. Acer has planned to release its new smartphones in Q1 this year. This handset will be released in Western Europe and Russia. Acer has sent out the media invitation for the press conference on February 16th, 2009. [Slashphone]
