
ALK Technologies today announced that the CoPilot Live satellite navigation system has been approved for sale via the iPhone App Store and is now available in UK for Apple iPhone 3G and 3Gs for a one-off payment of £25.99 ($43) for UK/Ireland or £59.99 ($100) for European maps. The CoPilot Live provides full featured turn-by-turn navigation to iPhones with automatic route calculation by post-code or street, 3D map displays in portrait or landscape mode and turn-by-turn voice directions. The first jailbreaking tool for the iPhone 3GS has been released. Developer George Hotz has recently released the Purplera1n jailbreak software for iPhone 3GS that seems to work perfectly. The software runs on Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, and additionally requires iTunes 8.2 and iPhone 3.0. A Mac version of the software is said to be “coming soon.” The author warns that the Jailbreak is a beta, so you should backup any important iPhone data before attempting to crack the phone’s security. The Facebook for iPhone 3.0 will be available for download (probably via the App Store) very soon. The new version of Facebook for iPhone will obviously bring many improvements and additions. Some of new features include Homescreen, News Feed, Notes, Pages, Events (with the ability to RSVP) and enhanced notifications.
