Nokia has announced the release date of the highly anticipated Nokia N8. Folks living in the US will be able to place a pre-order for the N8 for $550, where it is expected to ship from the end of September 2010. Nokia has unveiled the new Nokia C6-01 that features an 8MP digital camera with dual LED flash instead of a single LED flash. Priced at €279 or around $360, this camera phone has recently appeared at Nokia Netherlands’ official website. The Nokia C6-01 features a QWERTY keyboard, a 360 x 640 pixels touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS and Ovi Maps with free navigation etc. [PortableGear]
Taiwan’s Altek has recently unveiled its upcoming cell phone that sports a 14-megapixel camera. Dubbed as the Leo, this camera phone also features a 3x optical zoom, 720p HD video recording capabilities, a touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, LED and Xenon flashes. Word has it that the Altek Leo will use Google’s Android OS. The Leo is slated to be launched at the CommunicAsia show in Singapore in June 2010. No word on pricing so far. [Intomobile]
Word has it that Nokia is working on a new camera phone as a successor to the Nokia N86 8MP. Dubbed as the Nokia N87 12MP, the slider phone will feature a 3.2-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display, a 16GB of internal memory, a 600MHz processor and a superb 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics plus dual LED and Xenon flashes. Word has it that Sony Ericsson will release their latest candybar phone namely the Sony Ericsson Susan. The camera phone will come with a 5MP shooter with a LED flash. The Samsung SCH-W880 is claimed as “the world’s first 12MP camera phone with a 3x optical zoom.” The handset also features a 6x digital zoom with auto focus, an image stabilization, a face detection, a Xenon flash and 720p video recording at 30fps. Additional specs include a 3.3-inch AMOLED WVGA touchscreen display and a 4GB of internal memory. The Samsung SCH-W880 will be available in South Korea next month. [SamsungHub]
