AT&T To Release TerreStar Genus Cellular / Satellite Smartphone

AT&T in collaboration with TerreStar are set to release their first hybrid smartphone called the TerreStar Genus. This particular smartphone provides access to both AT&T’s network and TerreStar’s satellite network providing users with a wider coverage area. Apart from that, the handset also features a 2.6-inch touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, Windows Mobile OS and supports both GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS/HSDPA connectivities. The TerreStar Genus will hit AT&T in Q1 2010 for unannounced price yet. [Press Release]

Here are the specs: a 2.8-inch multitouch screen, a finger print reader for phone unlock, a 5 megapixel camera, Wifi, email and a web browser. The phone will also use the cutting-edge kinetic technology for passive charging of the phone. It will come in a variety of finishes, including Rose Gold, Rose Gold & Blue, Rose Gold & Steel, Stealth Black and Steel & Blue trims.
