Orange San Francisco has started selling a new budget Android handset that comes equipped with Google Android 2.1. The handset features a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a 3MP camera, an integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and an FM Radio. Additional features include a 150MB of storage capacity, which is upgradable via a microSD card slot. Each purchase of this Android smartphone comes equipped with a 2GB microSD card slot. Orange is ready to launch a new own-brand Android smartphone in France. Known as the Orange Tactile Internet, the phone is only €1 on new contracts, so seems like a very good deal for an entry-level smartphone. Orange is ready to launch two new own-branded phones namely the Orange Lisbon and Orange Rio. The Orange Lisbon is an entry level full-touch phone that features 2G connectivity, an MP3 player, an FM radio, Bluetooth, a USB, a 1.3MP camera, a MicroSD card support, and a battery that provides up to 3-hour of talk time. Orange UK will release mobile HD Voice in the UK this year. The network carrier is already working with unnamed top phone makers on developing HD Voice-ready handsets. FYI, mobile HD Voice is based on the WB-AMR (Wideband Adaptive Multi-Rate) speech codec, which uses a wide speech bandwidth (50–7000 Hz), which is capable of providing enhanced sound quality without using extra network resources.
