Palm today launched the new update for its WebOS platform. The Palm webOS 1.1 re-enables Palm media sync, so you will have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes (8.2.1). The new update also includes a few other goodies for everyone including support for emoticons in the messaging app, enhanced Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) support, the ability to set “person reminders” in the contacts app, and a new application (Sprint’s NFL Mobile Live). Sprint has released the Palm Pre for only $549.99 without service contract agreement. The 2-years contract price of $199.99 is including $100 mail-in-rebate and a $150 discount. [Engadget Mobile]
The long-awaited Palm Pre will be released in Canada sometime in the second half of 2009. The Canadian Palm Pre supports EV-DO connectivity, a 320 x 480 pixels multi-touch display, GPS, Wi-Fi, a full QWERTY keyboard and the WebOS platform. No word on pricing at this time. [UnWiredView]
Palm is back with its new webOS phone known as the Palm Eos, a 10.6mm thin handset that will soon make its way to AT&T. This ultra thin smartphone offers a 2.63-inch touchscreen display with 320 x 400 resolution, a 2MP fixed-focus camera with flash and video recording, music & video players, SMS, MMS, built-in IM client, A-GPS, a 4GB of internal memory, a micro USB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP and EDR and supports Quad-band GSM/HSDPA connectivity. It’s said that the Palm Eos will be priced at $349 before rebates, but sadly, no word on availability yet. [Engadget]
Palm is out with another great deal, they’re offering unlocked GSM versions of their Centro smartphone for as low as $199 each, in any of three colors: Ruby Red, Glacier White, and Cobalt Blue. As a reminder, the handset is equipped with a 320 x 320 pixel display, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a full QWERTY keyboard with rubber buttons, 64MB or 128MB of built-in storage space, a microSD card slot, a web browser, Bluetooth and e-mail synchronization capabilities.
