
Acer has showcased their new smartphone at Computex 2009. Dubbed as the F1, this new handset is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and features a 3.8-inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 800 resolution, a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, an FM radio, a 3.5mm headset jack, GPS, WiFi, a 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, and Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS. Two giant carriers namely Spain’s Telefónica and japan’s NTT DoCoMo are set to launch the highly anticipated Toshiba TG01 smartphone starting June or July. NTT will be selling it under the name of docomo PRO series T-01A in Japan. As a reminder, this high-end smartphone offers a huge 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS (upgradeable to 6.5), a 3D user interface, Wi-Fi, GPS and a microSD card slot. Sadly, there’s no word on pricing so far. Here are some leaked pictures of HTC’s upcoming Hero smartphone. According to Code Android, the Hero, aka G3, will be released probably in Q3 this year. As seen from the pictures, this new Android smartphone comes without a trackball, but in addition it features a 3.5mm headset jack. Sadly, no other information is given at the moment. Palm is back with its new webOS phone known as the Palm Eos, a 10.6mm thin handset that will soon make its way to AT&T. This ultra thin smartphone offers a 2.63-inch touchscreen display with 320 x 400 resolution, a 2MP fixed-focus camera with flash and video recording, music & video players, SMS, MMS, built-in IM client, A-GPS, a 4GB of internal memory, a micro USB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP and EDR and supports Quad-band GSM/HSDPA connectivity. It’s said that the Palm Eos will be priced at $349 before rebates, but sadly, no word on availability yet. [Engadget]

Palm is out with another great deal, they’re offering unlocked GSM versions of their Centro smartphone for as low as $199 each, in any of three colors: Ruby Red, Glacier White, and Cobalt Blue. As a reminder, the handset is equipped with a 320 x 320 pixel display, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a full QWERTY keyboard with rubber buttons, 64MB or 128MB of built-in storage space, a microSD card slot, a web browser, Bluetooth and e-mail synchronization capabilities. Acer has recently launched two of its latest smartphones in the form of the DX650 (left) and DX900 (right) in Hong Kong. Both smartphones are equipped with a Samsung S3C 6410 533MHz processor, an integrated SiRFstar III GPS chipset, 128MB RAM, 256MB flash memory, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS with Spb Mobile Shell v2.1 3D UI and supports WiFi 802.11b/g as well as Bluetooth connectivity. So here are the main differences between the two handsets: the DX650 is a dual sided handset with a dedicated number pad, a 1.27-inch OLED display on the back and a 2.8-inch touchscreen display on the front. Meanwhile, the DX900 is a dual-SIM phone that only offers a single 2.8-inch touchscreen display with 640 x 480 high resolution.
