Sharp will release the Aquos Phone 102SH in the Japanese market. The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor with a large 4.5-inch (720 x 1280) glasses-free 3D display, a 1GB of RAM, a microSDHC card slot and a 12-megapixel digital camera with CMOS sensor. The Sharp Aquos Phone 102SH also supports DLNA, infrared, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, e-wallet functionality and Bluetooth 3.0. SoftBank Japan is ready to release the Aquos Phone 102SH in December 2011. Softbank will release the Huawei Vision 007HW in the Japanese market. Measuring at just 11mm thin, this 3G smartphone comes with the Google Android 2.3 OS, a 1GHz processor, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 5MP digital camera, and a 3.7-inch (800×480) display. The Huawei Vision 007HW will be released in September 2011. No word yet on pricing. [Softbank]
SoftBank Japan will release an Android-based “Yahoo Phone”, which is actually a re-branded “Sharp AQUOS SoftBank 009SH”. The handset features the Google Android 2.3 as the OS, a 4-inch LCD with QHD resolution, an 8MP CMOS camera, Bluetooth 3.0, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, a microSDHC slot, a digital TV tuner, an e-wallet function, infrared communication, etc. Users can expect to find selected Android apps and services from Yahoo Japan pre-installed on the device, for example Yahoo Japan Home, Yahoo Japan Auctions, a calendar, dictionary, Yahoo Loco (the company’s LBS), etc. SoftBank subscribers who purchase the phone will become Yahoo Japan premium members for a period of two years for free (instead of having to pay $4.50 monthly) and can also get additional points for every purchase made on Yahoo Shopping for the next two years. Softbank is ready to launch the Sharp 009SH 3D AQUOS phone a.k.a. “Et Voila”. Available in Champagne, Black, White or Pink, this 3D Android 2.3 smartphone has a 4-inch QHD (540×960) 3D New Mobile ASV screen and an 8MP digital camera. Here is good news for all Gundam fans in Japan. Softbank will launch the Gundam cell phone to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gundam plastic models (Gunpla). The phone comes with a 1/100 scale Gundam model kit, a pre-installed software, decals and a Gunpla cell phone cradle. The Gundam cell phone will be released this summer. More
Softbank Mobile has introduced a new external battery for iPhone 3G that allows users in Japan to charge their iPhone on the go. This battery extender can also function as the One-Seg media broadcast receiver and transmits the video via WiFi signal to iPhone 3G for up to 3 hours.
